A PLAYBACK INTERVIEW, BY HEATH PIPER, IS THE MODERN-DAY MEMOIR.

A BESPOKE, BEAUTIFULLY PRODUCED TWO-HOUR AUDIO MEMOIR THAT CAPTURES THE ESSENCE OF A PERSON’S LIFE - OR THE LIFE OF A LOVED ONE - AS A TREASURED KEEPSAKE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.

WHAT I DO

I create modern-day memoirs — bespoke, beautifully produced audio interviews that capture the essence of a person’s life and legacy. Whether commissioned by families or individuals, a Playback Interview celebrates life’s journey, from personal milestones to lessons learned, creating a lasting keepsake for generations to cherish.

With over 20 years of professional broadcasting experience, my work has been featured in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Channel 7, and ABC Radio. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of interviewing celebrities like Justin Bieber and Ben Lee, as well as politicians past and present. Today, I focus on capturing the extraordinary stories of individuals aged 50 to 100+. People whose lives may not have always been in the spotlight but are far from average. These interviews reveal the remarkable depth, wisdom, and humanity of individuals whose stories deserve to be heard and celebrated.

For a closer look at the heart of my work, listen to my recent interview on ABC Radio, where I share the inspiration behind Playback Interviews and the profound impact these audio memoirs have had.

Every Playback Interview is more than just a recording - it’s a timeless celebration of life, meticulously produced with care and respect.

"I’ve only been living one day at a time, since Ron died. In fact that’s all we have. This moment. So you have to cherish it. You have to be very careful about it."

Our lives today are vastly documented, with daily photos, videos and social media. At 90 years young, My Nanna’s was not. While I know many of Nan’s stories, Heath was able to draw out so much more, such as learnings, thoughts, emotions, values - the essence of a person. We now have a documented record of our beloved Bertie / Beryl / Nan / GG. Something to treasure for now, but importantly, something for my children to have in time, so they too can know and treasure their grandmother.

ABOUT HEATH PIPER

Heath Piper is an award-winning Australian radio personality with a 20-year professional broadcasting career. He has made significant contributions to both the entertainment and education industries.

Heath is best known for co-hosting "The Heath & Normy Show", airing on Triple M Sydney and NXFM Newcastle. He has interviewed many high-profile celebrities throughout his career, including the likes of Ricky Martin, James Blunt, Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, and Ben Lee.

“I started Playback Interviews because I showed my son a picture of my Pa. He asked “Who is that?” My Pa had passed away and I wished I had something of note to show my son. A story, a video, but I didn’t have anything. People need to record their loved ones and grandparent's and elderly people’s stories. Otherwise, those stories die with that person - and they’ve had such a life.”
