A PLAYBACK INTERVIEW, BY HEATH PIPER, IS THE MODERN-DAY MEMOIR. RECORD THE LIFE STORY OF A LOVED ONE FOR GENERATIONS TO LISTEN TO.
WHAT I DO
I specialise in interview audio art - the modern-day memoir.
When you commission an interview, I capture decades of stories from you or your 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100-year-old loved one, celebrating their life, asking the big life questions, and gaining their unique perspective and treasured wisdoms. I work closely with the commissioning family to produce a beautiful historical time capsule, in the voice of the person you know and love so well.
Tapping into my 20-year professional broadcasting experience, I break down barriers and kindle authenticity, creating a space where your loved one is comfortable and open. Audio is a powerful medium that ensures genuine responses, resulting in an edited piece of audio-art that preserves memories for your private keepsake.
"I’ve only been living one day at a time, since Ron died. In fact that’s all we have. This moment. So you have to cherish it. You have to be very careful about it."

“ Our lives today are vastly documented, with daily photos, videos and social media. At 90 years young, My Nanna’s was not. While I know many of Nan’s stories, Heath was able to draw out so much more, such as learnings, thoughts, emotions, values - the essence of a person. We now have a documented record of our beloved Bertie / Beryl / Nan / GG. Something to treasure for now, but importantly, something for my children to have in time, so they too can know and treasure their grandmother. “

“I started Playback Interviews because I showed my son a picture of my Pa. He asked “Who is that?” My Pa had passed away and I wished I had something of note to show my son. A story, a video, but I didn’t have anything. People need to record their loved ones and grandparent's and elderly people’s stories. Otherwise, those stories die with that person - and they’ve had such a life.”
